This Privacy Policy explains how BeeKeepPal, Inc. (“BeeKeepPal”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use our website, web dashboard and mobile apps (together, the “Service”), including our AI-powered features. “Personally Identifiable Information” (PII) means information that can be used on its own or with other information to identify, contact or locate a single person, or to identify an individual in context.
What information do we collect?
- Account information. When you register, we may ask for your name, email address, country and company name.
- Payment information. When you subscribe to a paid package, you provide your billing address and debit/credit card or PayPal details. Card payments are processed by Stripe and PayPal payments by PayPal. We store only a record of the transaction, never your full card number.
- Beekeeping data. Information you enter about your beekeeping operation, such as apiaries, beehives, inspections, tasks, production, financials, products, customers and suppliers.
- Location. We use location services to set apiary locations, nearby threat alerts and provide accurate weather forecasts. Device location data is not stored on our servers unless you choose to opt in and save it.
- AI feature content. When you use an AI feature, we collect the photos, text, questions and other content you submit, and the results the AI returns. See “AI-Powered Features” below.
- Technical information. Device type, browser type, IP address, language preference, time zone and screen size, used to operate, secure and improve the Service.
When do we collect information?
We collect information when you register, subscribe, use the Service (including AI features), subscribe to a newsletter, contact support or otherwise enter information on our site or apps.
How do we use your information?
- To operate the website and mobile apps and provide the features you request, including AI features.
- To personalize your experience and deliver the content and offerings most relevant to you.
- To improve our website and apps.
- To respond to your customer service requests.
- To process your transactions.
- To ask for ratings and reviews of our services.
- To follow up after correspondence (live chat, email or phone inquiries).
- To keep the Service secure and prevent fraud or misuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content or AI feature data for advertising.
AI-Powered Features
BeeKeepPal offers optional features powered by artificial intelligence (“AI Features”), such as voice inspections, photo-based hive health and disease analysis, and AI-generated inspection insights and recommendations. AI Features run only when you choose to use them.
Our AI providers. To deliver AI Features, we send the content needed for your request to one or more of the following providers, who process it on our behalf:

We may route a request to any of these providers depending on the feature, availability and performance. We may add or change providers; when we do, we will update this policy.
What data is sent. We send only what the feature needs to answer your request, which may include:
- Photos you upload for analysis (for example, frames, brood or bees).
- Audio recording of inspection
- Text you type, such as questions or notes.
- Relevant beekeeping data from your account, such as hive details, inspection history, and general apiary location or weather conditions.
We do not send your password, payment information, or billing address to AI providers. Where a feature does not need your name or email address, we do not include them.
No training on your data. We access these providers through their paid, business API services. Under those terms, the providers do not use your content or the AI results to train or improve their AI models.
How long providers keep data. Providers process your content to generate a response. They may keep it temporarily — generally up to 30 days — to detect abuse and comply with the law, and then delete it, as described in their own policies.
How long we keep data. AI results you choose to save (for example, a diagnosis added to an inspection) are stored in your account like your other beekeeping data. Photos uploaded for AI analysis are stored with your records so you can view them later. Deleting your account deletes this data, as described in “Deletion of Personally Identifiable Information”.
How we protect AI data.
- All data sent to AI providers is encrypted in transit using TLS.
- Requests are made from our servers; our provider API keys are never exposed in the app or browser.
- Access to AI feature data is limited to staff who need it to run and support the Service.
- Providers are bound by their business terms and data processing commitments to keep your data confidential and secure.
International processing. AI providers may process data in the United States and other countries where they or their subprocessors operate.
Accuracy. AI output can be incomplete or wrong. It is guidance, not a substitute for your own judgement or advice from a qualified bee inspector or veterinarian. See our Terms and Conditions.
Your choices.
- AI Features are optional. You can use BeeKeepPal without them.
- Avoid including people, faces, vehicle plates or other personal details in photos or text you submit.
- You can delete saved AI results and photos from your records at any time, or delete your account.
- Questions about AI data can be sent through our Contact form.
How do we protect your information?
- PCI-compliant payment gateways (Stripe and PayPal) handle all card transactions; card data is not stored or processed on our servers.
- A Web Application Firewall blocks malicious web traffic.
- Regular malware scanning keeps the website free of malware.
- All data between your device, our servers and our AI providers is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS.
Your personal information is kept behind secured networks and is accessible only to a limited number of people with special access rights, who must keep it confidential.
Deletion of Personally Identifiable Information
You may request complete deletion of your personally identifiable information at any time. Account holders can do this from the Account Management panel. Guests can use the Contact form. Deleting your account also deletes your saved AI results and uploaded photos. Copies held temporarily by AI providers are deleted under their retention schedules, described above.
Accounts that have not logged in or subscribed for two years are deleted automatically. Data in pending, failed and cancelled subscriptions is deleted automatically after two years.
Third-party disclosure
We do not sell or trade your Personally Identifiable Information. We share it only with service providers that help us run the Service, under obligations to protect it and use it only on our behalf:
- Payment processors: Stripe and PayPal.
- AI providers: Google (Gemini), Anthropic (Claude) and OpenAI, only when you use an AI Feature.
We may also release information when required by law, to enforce our site policies, or to protect our or others’ rights, property or safety.
Third-party links
We may include or offer third-party products or services on our website. These sites have separate privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their content or activities. We welcome feedback about these sites.
Do we use ‘cookies’?
Yes. Cookies are small files a site transfers to your device through your browser (if you allow it) so the site can recognize your browser and remember certain information. We use cookies to:
- Remember and process items in your shopping cart.
- Save your preferences for future visits.
- Compile aggregate data about site traffic and interactions to improve the site. We may use trusted third-party services to track this information on our behalf.
You can set your browser to warn you before a cookie is sent or to refuse all cookies. If you turn cookies off, some features may not work properly.
California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA)
Under CalOPPA, we agree that:
- Users can visit our site anonymously.
- Our Privacy Policy is linked from our home page, and the link includes the word ‘Privacy’.
- You will be notified of Privacy Policy changes on this page and by email.
- You can change your personal information by logging in to your account.
How does our site handle Do Not Track signals?
We honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals. When a DNT browser mechanism is in place, we do not track, plant tracking cookies or use advertising.
Does our site allow third-party behavioral tracking?
No. We do not allow third-party behavioral tracking.
Children’s privacy (COPPA)
We do not market to children under 13 and do not knowingly collect their personal information. We do not let third parties, including ad networks, plug-ins or AI providers, collect PII from children under 13. AI Features are intended for users aged 18 and over, or younger users supervised by a parent or guardian.
Data breach notification
If a data breach occurs, we will notify affected users by email and by in-site notification within 1 business day. You have the right to pursue enforceable rights against data collectors and processors who fail to follow the law.
CAN-SPAM Act
We collect your email address to:
- Send information and respond to inquiries or requests.
- Process orders and send order updates.
- Send information related to your product or service.
- Market to our mailing list after your original transaction.
We will not use false or misleading subjects or addresses, will identify advertisements, will include our business address, will monitor any third-party email services for compliance, and will honor unsubscribe requests promptly. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of each email.
